F1 in the news
Catching up on the F1 news/gossip:
- BBC’s headline “Schumacher suffers pit lane shunt” is
misleadingoutright wrong! He drove into the back of Nick Heidfeld, so how is that “suffering”? He caused it! NH stopped at the end of the pit lane exit to do a practice start, which is something every driver does, including MS. - BBC reports that Bernie “the poison dwarf” Ecclestone said: “I don’t take the threat of a breakaway seriously. Even if it happened, the FIA championship would continue.” (No surprise there.) “There have been thousands of different formats and regulations over the years and lots of teams have come and gone. Only Ferrari is still around.”! The sooner the other teams start a new formula the better.
- BBC also reports that “FIA president Max Mosley will meet Formula One’s drivers in Cannes on 1 August to try and ease tensions between him and the sport’s stars. The drivers had been due to meet him ahead of the British GP, but Mosley cancelled because he was upset that their grievances were already being made public.”

“I don’t take the threat of a breakaway seriously. Even if it happened, the FIA championship would continue.”
I’m sure USAC said the same thing with this (relatively) unknown guy named Roger Penske started up Championship Auto Racing Teams
What a Champ chump!
heh .. true .. it’s not exactly what it once was now (shouldn’t have gone public with an IPO)
But he should take the thought of group going breakaway somewhat seriously
