Web site changes

The plan:

~~move the current web site somewhere safe~~
~~backup the photo gallery~~
~~move the photo gallery~~ to be pics.henman.ca but also still accessible via henman.dyndns.org (for now?)
- I can’t believe this is proving troublesome!!
- check domain config – ~~need to add CNAME for “*.henman.ca”~~
- nslookup works almost instantly
- OK, it looks like it’s a DNS caching issue – works OK from another PC
- Clear PC’s DNS cache (C:> ipconfig /flushdns) – now OK too
3B. ~~Reconfig gallery to recognise both domains~~ (actually Gallery on knows about pics.henman.ca; henman.dydns.org resolved by /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf)
~~wipe the blog + wiki databases~~ (old entries copied to private LJ entry)
~~reinstall WordPress (the blog s/w)~~ @ blog.henman.ca (instructions)
5B. Aargh! The links (to entries/comments) don’t work!
- investigate Apache mod_rewrite config
- I’ve got a nasty suspicion that mod_rewrite isn’t installed/enabled … but I can’t be sure
- Posted request for help in both (here) and (here).
- Fixed! The cause was Fedora’s default setting which disabled the .htaccess file (see postings linked above for more info)
reinstall MicroWiki (the wiki s/w) @ wiki.henman.ca … or use MediaWiki?
Well, it looks like the MicroWiki site is stuck in a loop and I can’t get to the download page!

add some content!! (including moving the existing web pages over to the wiki)
