Not entirely a surprise
BBC news reports “Ferrari have confirmed that Rubens Barrichello will leave the team at the end of the Formula One season.”
“Reports suggest Barrichello, who won nine Grands Prix in five years with Ferrari, has signed a deal with BAR.” – that presumably is because BAR are expecting to lose Jenson Button to Williams*, although Takuma Sato is unlikely to remain once Honda cease being the engine supplier.
*The BBC also reported yesterday: “BAR boss Nick Fry has warned Jenson Button he must fight his contract battle with Williams on his own, without help from his current team.”
Oh, and Barrichello’s move probably means Massa will join Ferrari. Is it coincidence Massa’s manager is Jean Todt’s son?
Update: “While the other teams honour a voluntary August ban on testing, Ferrari returned to the Monza (Italy) circuit on Monday morning for a four day run. Luca Badoer covered 110 laps.” [article]
No surprise that Ferrari continue to thumb their nose at the rest of F1.
