Nick “accident prone” Heidfeld out for Brazil too
Nick Heidfeld has been sidelined from the Brazilian Grand Prix due to injuries he sustained in a cycling accident at the weekend. The German and his manager Werner Heinz have both confirmed that he will not be fit to race at Interlagos in two weeks’ time – one of the most physically demanding races on the calendar due to its anti-clockwise layout.
“Unfortunately, Nick’s injuries mean he cannot participate in the next Formula 1 race,” stated Heinz.
Heidfeld, who has missed the last two races after being concussed in a testing accident at Monza on August 26, was training at home in Switzerland when he was struck by a motorbike and fell off his bicycle.
He sustained a cracked shoulder blade as well as a dislocated finger and bumps and bruises.
“At a junction I was unfortunately negligent and collided with a motorbike.”
