Blog thought of the day: Blog comment etiquette
When you comment on someone’s blog entry, how do you know if they reply?
Do you go back and check their site a few times to see?
Is there some nifty tool that I don’t know about?
Or is the blogger meant to reply to the commenter via email, in which case I apologise for not doing so!
It doesn’t answer my question, but while looking for guidance on blog etiquette I found “how to blog by tony pierce“; I’m not going to manage half of what he suggests, but it’s a fun read.
Also not answering the question but interesting nonetheless, I found EFF‘s “How to Blog Safely (About Work or Anything Else)” (whoops! Henman isn’t my real name, honest!), which led me to The Bloggers’ Rights Blog, where I found my old university listed under Blogophobic Companies/Organizations! (LanU’s entry is the result of an anonymous comment saying “a friend of mine..”, so [like many of those entries, from what I can see] the claim that they’re “blogophobic” seems dubious.)
Again, off topic but tangentially related, Tim O’Reilly’s post about people adding a “bloggable” checkbox in their email footer; interesting; I might just have to do that too.
