Stupid adverts
OK, so most adverts are pretty stupid and just a little condescending, but I’ve just seen two that make me wonder if the person(s) responsible don’t understand the mismatch between the image and words they’re presenting.
Example #1: Photo of person (pretending to be) abseiling with the words “Take [our product] to new heights”. Now I know it’s been a few years since I climbed last, but even I can see the guy is on a figure-eight descender, so for him the only way is down.
Example #2:Photo of gymnast (supposedly) having completed his dismount, arms aloft, standing next to parallel bars; the words read “Experience unparalleled success!” Surely then he should have been on the asymmetric bars if it’s unparalleled?
Hmmm, maybe I should create a new category for advert bloopers – there’s certainly no shortage of material!
