Google Maps + anything Toronto-related mashups
I’ve been keeping an eye out for Toronto-related Google map toys, and I’ve found a couple:
- TTC subway map using Google Maps – it’s “proof-of-concept only” but it certainly shows that it’s something the TTC should be doing themselves
- The Toronto Star have created a map for Homicides in the GTA, 2005 to date – lovely!
- GoogleStalk shows a map of where you live, based on your phone number; it pinpoints our house exactly … so the lesson here is to have your phone number unlisted/ex-directory
Another interesting toy I found is Seattle911, which GoogleMapsMania says “displays the most recent 911 fire calls which have been placed in [Seattle]“. Given there’s a dispatch list for Toronto’s fire service, I wonder if we could build something similar?
