Top Ten Tuesday

I decided I should start a weekly posting theme, so here is the inaugural Top Ten Tuesday entry. [Waits for the applause to die down]

Top Ten things I enjoy about living in Canada:

  1. Cold, fizzy beer OK, not so much … but having our wedding reception in a brewery was fun!
  2. Everything is close to hand – I guess that’s more of a living-in-Toronto thing than Canada, but it’s great having the amenities of a city and yet it feels like living in a small town
  3. Via Rail (especially Via1) beats what-was-British-Rail-but-now-is-a-jigsaw-of-private-companies
  4. 30,000 channels on TV … OK, it’s more like about 100 … of which I probably only watch a dozen or so
  5. …and getting new TV shows at (or closer to) the same time as they’re released in the US … not 6 months later!
  6. Seeing more bands – there are a couple of good venues close to hand
  7. High speed Internet connection
  8. Winter! Yes, I like winter and struggle through summer; that does not make me a freak!
  9. The new friends I’ve made
  10. Being with Kerri

(Is it obvious that next week will be “things I miss about England”?)

Obviously you’re not talking about the L Word :P

  4. “things I miss about England” – I guess Fish & Chips has got to be up there in the top 3.
That was cool having the wedding reception in a brewery. Which I had done that! :)

  6. Hi Sapna; I have no idea about the L Word – I think Kerri might watch it but I’m more worried about cartoons (Simpsons, South Park, Futurama, Family Guy), West Wing, Lost and … no, that’s about it. :)

  8. Hi Mr.Haddock; fish & chips probably will feature, although we used to live a few hundred yards from probably the best chippy in Toronto (run by an ex-pat), so I could always get a fix when I needed one. :)

The reception-in-a-brewery idea started as a joke – I was surprised when my wife agreed. It was a lot of fun … but then how can it not be when you’re surrounded by beer? :)
