All quiet on the blogging front

You can tell I’ve been busy – no entry for a couple of days! But busy doing what?

Tuesday: I’m helping a friend’s parents sort out their home IT bits – a laptop running Windows ME, a Win98 desktop and a wireless network, all in need of some serious attention/upgrades.

Wednesday: Spent an hour giving a market research firm some feedback on the LCBO websites (did you even know there was LCBOgifts.com?) – easiest $50 I ever made! Then promptly went and spent it on printer ink and a haircut.

Also had to buy new shorts because [drum roll please] I finally found a badminton club! OK, so actually Kerri found out about it because she spotted someone carrying a badminton racquet on a bus and asked him where he was going to play. Turns out it’s only a few streets away! So I went along to see if I could join in. Turns out it’s a gay/lesbian badminton club! Whatever; I just want to play badminton; I don’t care if everyone speaks some alien language, just so long as I can play! (It’s been ~5 years since I last played!)

Three hours with almost no rest (because I kept asking people to let me practice against them on the spare court – most of the technique is stil there but my smash has yet to return) I struggled to walk home; Kerri had to undo my boots because I couldn’t bend down, and I knew if I sat down I’d never get up again! :)

Thursday: A few aches, especially my legs, but it’s not like I had to go anywhere. Spent the day looking for a job (fruitless, as usual), doing more research on those PC upgrades, and updating my “essential tools” CDs (which contains things like sysadmin analysis/recovery tools) with the Win98 drivers for my USB flash drive.

Friday: Still a few aches – it’s the first time I’ve noticed my arm aching. I need to finish off my initial investigations for those PC upgrades and send them the prices – I don’t think the laptop can be upgraded (it’s 4+ years old, so it’s impossible to find the right RAM) so I’m going to give them some suggestions for refurbished laptops & desktops. I also want to have a look at the photos I took at the party on Saturday and when I was downtown on Wednesday; a quick bit of editing and they can be uploaded.

  2. I forgot to mention: when I was in Sears, looking for shorts, I found the (tiny) sports section but they only had non-white (I wanted white) shorts in S, M, L or XL (I wanted XXL). One of the staff pointed me at the “big & tall section” just across from there, so I wandered over, semi-depressed at the thought of bing “big” … but the girl there sent me back because the smallest size they have is 3XL! Eventually I found a pair of XL that felt comfortable and that would survive an evening of me lunging around the court. :)
