GP Masters – inaugural race @ Kyalami
This weekend is the inaugural race of the GP Masters series, but it doesn’t appear to be on TV in Canada – the GP Masters site says TSN are showing highlights but I can’t see it listed on TSN’s site.
The drivers are all ex-Formula One drivers; to be eligible they must be over 45 years old, have retired from all forms of open wheel racing, and have retired from F1 for two complete seasons. The driver line-up looks great: Rene Arnoux, Eddie Cheever, Christian Danner, Andrea De Cesaris, Emerson Fittipaldi, Stefan Johansson, Alan Jones, Jacques Laffite, Jan Lammers, Nigel Mansell, Riccardo Patrese, Hans-Joachim Stuck, Patrick Tambay and Derek Warwick, with Murray Walker providing the commentary.
This weekend’s race is at Kyalami (South Africa) which is a great circuit – it’s a shame politics got in the way and it’s not been as a F1 circuit in a long time.

I emailed TSN on Saturday afternoon (right after posting this entry) to ask if/when they’re showing the GP Masters highlights … and I’ve yet to hear back, so I hope they get round to replying before it’s on!
I never did get a reply, but the TV mag says that TSN are showing it at 11am today!
