Aargh! It’s only 9am and the cats have already had two goes at trying to kill each other!

It started with Abby in the study window (in the basement, so she’s looking out at ground level) and Rascal wanting to get a look in too. He was up there a couple of minutes before she took exception to him being there and attacked. Mouse was sitting on the TV (their step up/down to the window) so he’s knocked off as Abby & Rascal take their fight to the floor. The three of them race off up the stairs, screaming as they go. Normally that’s it and it’s all over, but this time it continued upstairs so I went to intervene – the boys had Abby cornered under the dining table. I hauled Rascal and Mouse downstairs and shut them in the bathroom, giving Abby a chance to escape; I let them out again after a few minutes, and all was quiet.

A few minutes pass and Mouse appears and jumps up into the window … except instead of looking out at the snow he’s looking back into the room, keeping watch. Sure enough, Abby slinks into the doorway and he spots her … but all is calm for a moment. She thinks about entering the study but Mouse jumps down onto the TV and she gets all defensive, so he chases her off, screams and all. It’s so tempting to just shut the door and turn the music up but I’d better make sure they’re not killing each other, so I grab the water pistol, load it, and head upstairs. Mouse and Rascal have Abby cornered again so all three of them get a good soaking.

Since then (about 20 minutes ago) it’s been quiet. Touch wood, that’s it for now. Ugh.
