A judge has imposed a $1m (£570,000) per day fine on New York’s main transport union for a strike that has brought city transport to a standstill.
Yeah, let’s make ~7million people walk to work in the freezing cold (it’s -6°C / 21°F) – that’ll get everyone to back you!
Edited To Add: Apparently VIA Rail are threatening to strike on Christmas Eve … although there is a “tentative deal” which may avert it.
