BBC: Man shot in anti-terrorism raid
“Man shot in anti-terrorism raid” – I can understand it being headline news on the BBC, being as it took place in London, but I’m surprised it’s on a Toronto local news programme. Yes, if British police had shot the person dead, I can understand it, but the reports say “his injuries are not life-threatening”.
So basically a man has minor injuries and it makes international news; I wonder how busy the news service would be if they reported the same level of activity from US police.
The other thing that amused/bemused me was that 250 police officers were involved in the raid. 250! Wow! Was someone trying to reproduce the ending of Léon: The Professional?

Last night was Toronto’s turn: “Police from across the GTA, led by the RCMP’s anti-terrorism task force, swooped down on as many as 12 locations Friday night to arrest members of what is being described as a homegrown terrorist cell.” [Toronto Star]
