How many negatives?
Aeroplan obviously don’t want to make it easy for people to avoid spam – this is from their Privacy Policy > Opt-Out Request page:
If you do not wish to receive such offers, this form allows you to opt out of the following categories. Please remove the check from the box that corresponds to the category of partners from whom you do not wish to receive special offers.
The boxes were not checked (selected) when the page opened, so do I want to check them or not? Talk about being deliberately difficult! 
My simple solution: I’m going to blacklist the email address I have registered with them and then only unblock it when I expect to receive something, e.g. resetting my password.
Oh, and while I’m on the subject of poorly written web pages, SunLife gets a special mention for hard-coding their “browser check” so that I can’t use Opera – apparently they think I’d be better off using the infamously buggy Internet Explorer to access my pension information. No thanks!
