Flights from Canada to UK

A few people have asked how much our tickets were when we flew to England in December and I promised I’d check, so here’s the answer.

We flew with Zoom Airlines – they’re a fairly new airline and only fly between a few Canadian cities, the UK, Ireland and France, but the flight was fine (better than Air Canada!) although their choice of films could have been better. :)

If you wanted to fly this month, it’s about $360 (per person) for the return flight but when we flew (out on Dec18 and back on Dec29) not only was it “peak period” but we also booked quite late and went with their “premium” upgrade*, so it cost us $750 (return, per person). Then of course there’s $270 (per person) in “Departure Taxes, Fees & Fuel Surcharges” – ouch!

*The upgrade gives you 5″ more leg room (worth it for that alone, especially on a 7 hour flight!), seat selection, complimentary alcoholic drinks, increased baggage allowance (30Kg vs 20Kg), priority baggage delivery (which didn’t work at Pearson), complimentary headsets (although you can use your own headphones so I don’t know why anyone would pay for them), dedicated check in & reduced check in time.
