Car To Do list (Top2-2007.06)
I’m sure there’s more that I need to check out, but here’s my Top 2 Things To Do In Readiess For The New Car:
- insurance – is there anyone who’ll recognise my 12+ years of No Claims history from the UK?
- parking permit, so I can park outside our house and not get a ticket
I’ve heard that we’ll have to pay tax on the car, even if we “officially” pay just $1 for it, and we’ll have to get new plates for it – in the UK the plates (normally) stay with the car whereas here they stay with the driver apparently. (Both of these are covered on the MTO site; the answers are yes and yes. Hurrumph.)

I emailed that insurance site and they confirmed: no insurance company will recognise my UK history
