Canadian confusion (Top2-2007.07)

I’ve been here (Toronto) almost 6 years now, and there are still things which confuse me / catch me off guard:

  1. blue flashing lights: in the UK they’re fitted to emergency vehicles and when you see them it means get out of their way now; in Canada they’re fitted to snow ploughs to warn you they’re moving really slowly
  2. just how British they (Canadians) can be at times, e.g. on the bus today a (seated) woman is hit in the back of the head by some student’s backpack, and she apologised to the kid :)

p.s. This week marks eight years since Kerri & I first (virtually) met!
