Internet sickness
I haven’t tracked down the cause as yet, but there seems to be a problem with my internet connection. It looks like I’m connected but very, very slowly. I think I might have to resort to simply rebooting everything if I can’t put my finger on it soon.
The TV signal is fine (it’s the same supplier & cables) but I can’t get to my ISP’s (Rogers’) website to see if there are any known problems right now. Ugh.

I’ve been experiencing this too since I turned on my computer this afternoon. It’s affecting my phone service with Vonage. Both when I call out and answer the phone I can hear the other party but they can’t hear me. When I called Vonage they said that they’d heard that Rogers was having problems. She had me do a speed test. Download speed was fine, upload speed was very slow, like 18KBPS or something (7 on the retest I just did). The Rogers recording I heard said that it was out as of Sunday afternoon and they didn’t know when it would be resolved.
Looks like it’s better this morning.
Wednesday morning: speedtest.net says my download speed is 9949 kb/s but my upload is a pretty pathetic 632 kb/s
Guess I need to talk to Rogers tonight – we pay for Extreme so we should be getting “up to 6.0 Mbps download and 800 Kbps upload” (I guess “up to” is their get-out phrase).
Tell me what you're thinking...
