Qualifying had some controversial moments, so I wonder if the grid has changed in the past day?

There’s the chance of rain during the race, which will make it even harder to stay out of the barriers. Current conditions: air temperature 25°C; track temp 34°C; wind 1.8m/s; humidity 54%

Monaco Grand Prix – Practice

Hopefully you remembered that practice day at Monaco is Thursday not Friday … because they’re special.

There’s lots of pressure on Hamilton – he’s never lost at Monaco.

Practice #1:
Albers parked his Spyker after engine problems
Fisichella stuffed his Renault in the tyre wall at Sainte Devote
Hamilton set the fastetst lap but mechanical problems put an end to his session
Webber slid sideways into the same tyre wall and damaged his left rear wheel
Fastest was Alonso @ 1:16.973

Practice #2:
Sutil drifts wide through Massanet but keeps it out of the wall
The rear drifts out on Hamilton’s McLaren as he threads through Anthony Noghes (the last corner) but just avoids the wall – he’s on hard (well, the less soft) tyres
Hamilton uses the same kerb to bring his car under control – looks like a risky trick if you ask me
Hamilton’s next lap – posts 1:16.355 … and then 1:16.296 … and both with the harder tyres
Alonso 1:16.211
Davidson slides sideways into the tyre wall at Sainte Devote – was that a problem with his diff?
Coulthard overcooks it in the Loews hairpin and runs wide
Hamilton hits the same tyre wall and trashes the McLaren – he clipped a kerb, unsettled the car and went nose-first into the tyres at a fairly high speed, but he’s out of the car quickly
20mins left: Session stopped (but the clock keeps ticking) after Sutil touched the kerb exiting Loews and smashed his Spyker into the outside wall
FA 1:15.940
Massa slows to give himself some space and then nearly turns in on Fisichella
1min left and Schumacher wipes out after clipping the kerb on the exit of the swimming pool
Fastest was Alonso again – 1:15.940

There’s no F1 activity tomorrow but there’s rain forecast for Saturday.
