Look out

On the bus, heading in to work this morning, it was action all the way from Lawrence to York Mills (that’s ~2km/1.2miles) with a thunderstorm threatening. First off there was the Bell building with an assortment on fire and EMS vehicles and lots of people having been evacuated. Then there was a single car wrapped around a lamp post – looked like the driver got out OK as there was just a couple of police cars protecting the apparently-fresh scene and a guy standing by the remodelled car. A little closer to York Mills there was an SUV being dragged onto flatbed, which provided another set of flashing lights and hazards to negotiate.

By the time we reached Don Mills subway station it was raining pretty hard, to the point that visibility was pretty poor and everyone was slowing down to compensate. With that a pair of fire & EMS vehicles rushed past – not quite at the same speed that we saw the fire tenders doing after badminton recently, but still pretty quick. Only a few hundred yards later we stopped opposite a school – a few kids got off bus & ran across 3 lanes, against pedestrian lights, and causing a cacophony of car horns. Fortunately for the kids the emergency vehicle activity had died down.

Anyway, probably too much info for most people – I only posted this because it was just one thing after another this morning … and now it’s almost time for work.
