Marillion Weekend
This is a somewhat belated post – I should have written in sooner (especially as I was wearing my “I’m blogging this” T-shirt on the first day) but I was caught up dealing with Canon and other things, so this post has been evolving quite slowly. Anyway, on with the story…
We drove up to Montreal on Friday (April 3rd) in almost constant heavy rain, fortunately only encountering a couple of delays. Arriving at the Gouverner hotel mid-afternoon, Dan & I went for a short walk while Kerri took a nap; I took a few photos before heading back to get ready for the first night of the concert.

The hotel was quite close to the concert venue (L’Olympia) Read more
Camera woes
I can finally look back at my camera problems without completely blowing my top. It started a few weeks ago (March 24th, to be precise) when my Rebel XTi started reporting “Error 99″ when I tried to take a photo. The error message said “Shooting is not possible. Turn the power switch to OFF and ON again or re-install the battery.” (Obviously I followed those steps but the error still kept cropping up.)
The problem was intermittent so I took my camera to the Toronto Flickr meetup on the 26th and managed to take some pictures but over the course of the evening it acted up more and more. Eventually it stopped working completely, popping up Error 99 every time I hit the shutter button. Read more
Stay away from the new Rogers anti-virus
I followed the email from Rogers (my ISP) that told me they were dropping Symantec and I should install their new anti-virus offering. I should have known better, but I don’t know what came over me. It’s my own stupid fault, and I’ll never get those two hours back.
The email told me that I “need to upgrade to our NEW Rogers Online Protection before June 30th, 2009″, and that “Rogers Online Protection replaces the [Symantec] security suite” we previously received for free, for being a Rogers customer. It sent me to rogers.com/upgradesecurity which bounced me to a page from which I downloaded the installer.
Just as their email promised, “Upgrading to the NEW Rogers Online Protection is free and easy” other than having to reboot, which is not an unusual experience when I’m running Windows.
However, after the reboot, things were far from easy. Read more

Chinese Grand Prix – Race
The provisional grid looks like this: SV, FA, MW, RB, JB, JT, NR, KR, LH, SBu, NH, HK, FM, (TG*) KN, SB, NP, RK, AS, TG, GF
*TG’s engine penalty drops him from P14 to P19
[My notes from Qualifying]
It doesn’t look like the rumoured penalty for SV (for blocking HK during a qualifying lap) is going to materialise, and I’ve not heard of any other penalties (i.e. so it’s just TG’s) which means the provisional grid above stands.
As always, my notes are after the jump… Read more
