Will the Crackberry addicts be cut off?

Today’s the day for the RIM v. NTP case in Virginia. Will the judge order RIM to shutdown its (US) network and leave millions of Blackberry users to go cold turkey?

There’s been talk of a (legal) workaround from RIM but I don’t think anyone’s seen what it is so it’s quite a leap of faith. Presumably IT managers throughout the USA have been looking at alternatives … or maybe there will actually be a huge sigh of relief if they’re free of (one of) their electronic shackles, if only for a short time?

Mind you, The Onion has a few suggestions on how to cope. :)

Personally I hope the case is thrown out, or at least delayed, because the US Patent Office has been saying for some time now that they’ll reject NTP’s claims … but don’t seem to be making much progress in actually doing that.
