Happy anniversary to me
Wednesday was the 8th anniversary of me moving to Canada. In some ways it doesn’t seem that long but in other ways it feels like forever since I lived in England.
So what do I miss? Friends and family, of course; real beer; watching motor sports (F1, BTCC) live; driving on the correct side of the road; errr…. that’s about it.
It’s amusing/frustrating that I see job ads for scrum masters in England and nothing here; mind you, there seems to be lots for Australia and the US, so maybe it’s time to try out a third continent? Either that or Vancouver, which might be easier.
Anyway, back to my anniversary. I should have opened one some of the English beers I have at home (Sam Smiths or Fullers) but instead a few of us went to my new regular bar (Taps and Tales) for some local beer: Denison’s weissbier, which is brewed in Etobicoke, just a few miles from here.
Cheers!
Don’t forget to turn your clocks back tonight…
…unless you’re in the UK/Europe and did it last week … or the antipodes and DST is just starting … or a country where you don’t have DST … in fact, this probably only applies to North America and a few other places!
Anyway, read more about Daylight Saving Time @ http://www.timeanddate.com/time/aboutdst.html and please note: it’s Saving singular – please get it right!
Canadian Grand Prix – race
The grid looks unchanged from yesterday’s qualifying, other than Kovalainen’s penalty for an engine change, so the order is LH, FA, NH, KR, FM, MW, NR, RK, GF, JT, TS, VL, RB, DC, JB, SS, AD, RS, AW, AS, CA, HK.
Hamilton is the first driver to be on the pole for the Montreal Grand Prix in their first year in F1.
My live race notes are after the cut. Read more »
Canadian Grand Prix – qualifying
Alonso was quickest in both of Friday’s practice sessions, and teammate Hamilton was fastest in this morning’s session, so it’s looking promising for the McLaren team.

Canadian Grand Prix – practice
I don’t know what happened yesterday but I definitely set the PVR to record Friday practice 2 on Speed but it wasn’t there when I went to watch it last night.
Fortunately there are plenty of sources of F1 news, so I’ve caught up with yesterday’s sessions; there’s no TV coverage (at least not here) of this morning’s practice session, so I’ll watch it via the official FIA telemetry and the qualifying on TV with the telemetry as usual.
