The job market *is* improving
I keep telling myself the job market’s picking up…

In case anyone knows of a small-ish software development group that’s in need of a project manager, let me know! (My résumé.)
Job hunting resources
I’m sure some people are tired of hearing me complain about my ongoing job search, but I thought I should share the resources I use because more and more people are finding themselves in the same situation. Some of them are tech-specific or Ontario/Toronto-specific, but I’ll try to separate those out. Read more »
It never rains…
You probably know that I’ve been looking for a job for a while now (hmmm, maybe just a bit longer than a while!) … well, interest in my résumé picked up a month or so back, and I’ve been interviewing with a few places … and two of them called today … both have made me verbal job offers (contracts to follow in the next couple of days) … and both want me to start work on my birthday!!
OMG! I just realised – it’s exactly one year (today) since I was “let go” by OHTN! Is that timing or what?!?
Mostly good news
I had a second interview a couple of days ago – I met with them last week and they called me back almost straight away, which is promising. I think this interview went pretty well too, and they said they’ll get back to me by the middle of next week.
I’ve got an interview on Friday with a software company, and I’ve still got about six agencies/companies to follow up regarding new possibilites, as well as a few to follow up to see what’s happening with my application. Things are finally picking up.
After the less-than-wonderful experience with seeing a “doctor” about my toe nail, I saw my real doctor today. He agreed with me that I should leave what’s left alone and it’ll grow out in its own time. The best news is that he gave me the OK to continue playing badminton – I was worried that I may do more damage, but he told me to carry on and just avoid dropping anything on my now nailless toe
Unfortunately my doctor said that my elbow pain is tennis elbow, which means the best thing for it is rest … which isn’t going to happen until the end of this (badminton) season. He also said I should wear the elbow brace when I’m on the PC, because that’s adding to the strain on it. Well, I’ll give it a go and see.
HotJobs? I don’t think so
Yahoo’s HotJobs site has trashed my résumé for the third time in about six weeks! This time it’s created eight copies of my CV … except they’re all blank! Where has my (one and only) real résumé gone? And where did that really old version come from? Aargh!
I’ll fix it create it from scratch again – it wouldn’t be so bad if they actually had some “hot jobs” on their site – but this is the last time.
