The artist project
I went to “the artist project” at the Queen Elizabeth Building yesterday – thanks to Sean Galbraith for the ticket!
Aside from my friends (Sean at DK Photo Group and Celine Cimon), the artists who caught my eye were:
- Mark Berens – Canadian landscape artist
- Joseph Sampson – landscape painter
- Julie Desmarais – oil paintings of trees and landscapes
- Marni Grossman – fine art photographer
- Sandy Middleton – fine art photographer
There were many other interesting sights but these artists inspired me and gave me more to think about – hopefully I’ll be able to incorporate some of those ideas into my shots at this weekend’s photo walk.

Toronto Photo Walks
I organised a few photo walks recently; word of their success spread west and so a Calgary Photo Walks group was born! The organisers have some great plans for its future and I couldn’t be left behind, so now I’ve created a Facebook group (called Toronto Photo Walks) as a place where we can schedule our next events.
Most people are Flickr users and so we now also have a Flickr group, also imaginatively entitled Toronto Photo Walks.
So if you’re in the Toronto area, have a camera (any camera!) and fancy exploring the city, join our group and come along!
Hot and bothered
It’s just past 8am and it’s already 25°C, 34 if you take the humidity into account … which you should because it’s impossible to ignore!
I’ve been awake since about 3:30am because of the heat, and it’s not forecast to get any better before the end of the week. Today’s high is expected to reach 32°C (so it’ll probably feel more like the low 40s with the humidity) but at least there’s a fair chance of a thunderstorm – it might not ease the heat but at least it’ll be pretty

Photowalk in Feb
