If you use any of the affiliate links below you’ll help support this website – it won’t cost you anything but the vendor will give us a tiny kickback!

  • CanvasPop.com is the service I’ve used to print some of my photos. I have a couple of canvas wraps (“branchcicles” and one from Indy) which CanvasPop made – they’re really nice and I’d definitely use CanvasPop again. If you use my affiliate code you get a discount! (They’re based in Canada, which means no customs fees or duties.)

  • Backblaze is an online (aka cloud) backup service. I’ve used Backblaze for years (since early 2009) and I can thoroughly recommend it. Your first backup will take a while, as all your files will be uploaded to their servers; after that it’s much quicker as it only uploads the files which have changed. You can download individual (or multiple) files via their website; you can even grab these files when you’re away from your home machine. And of course it’s secure – you set your own password to encrypt all your data. You can read about my backup strategy in my blog.

  • HostPapa is the web hosting service I’ve been using since early 2008. The admin interface is really easy to use; I have a heap of domains hosted there (actually most of the domains redirect to a few actual sites, as does the email); and on the rare occasions that I’ve had to contact the support team they’ve been very helpful. Oh, and did I mention unlimited storage & unlimited bandwidth? Woot! :)

  • Namecheap.com is the domain registrar I use for almost all my domains – the few I have elsewhere are because namecheap didn’t support the TLD at that time. They post a discount code each month so follow them on Facebook or Twitter. Registering new domains is really simple and painless; once I set up the name server info for one domain (to point it at my hosting service) all new domains inherit the settings, making it even easier.

  • The domains which I haven’t registered with Namecheap are done through Hover.com; they’re a Toronto-based group and they were very helpful when I was wrestling my last few domains away from GoDaddy.

  • I’m a big Dropbox user; if you need an easy way to share files with friends or between your own machines, sign up for a free 2GB account.
