Paul Henman formula1 Turkish Grand Prix – Practice

Turkish Grand Prix – Practice

Practice 1 was soaking wet, which meant wet tyres (and inters later on) for everyone
Quite a few offs resulting in a fair bit of damage to various cars, including SV’s Red Bull
FA was fastest (1:38.670) followed by NR and MS

Practice 2: it looks very windy and overcast at the Istanbul circuit, but at least it’s not raining
SV hasn’t changed into his race overalls so it looks like the RBR team will need a lot more time to rebuild his car
SB 1:30.801
NR 1:30.545
VP 1:29.926
LH 1:29.030
JB 1:29.022
LH 1:28.345
KK screams down the inside of MS who gives him lots of room as KK runs wide
JB 1:28.222
NR 1:28.215
MS 1:28.165
30mins gone = 60mins left of Practice 2; no laps from SV & PM, both of whom damaged their car in Practice 1 … although PM is in his car now
Slow motion replay of the McLaren and Mercedes bouncing over some bumps – both seem to be quite softly sprung for this race
AS fighting with the Air India car
Yellow flags briefly as PM loses the tail of the Williams into Turn 8 but keeps it out of the wall
FM 1:27.959
VP 1:27.517
NR 1:27.352
45mins gone = half way through Practice 2
NR 1:26.961
FA spins the Ferrari in Turn 6 and struggles back to the pits; has to be pushed along the pit-in by the marshalls
30mins left
JB 1:26.456
Will Red Bull be able to get SV out for a couple of laps at the end of this session?
15mins left
PM is off again – he ran too wide in Turn 8 again, slide across the grass and broke the front wing on the very end of the armco – yellow flags as the marshalls try to remove the Williams
MS spins as he has to avoid a Force India (PD?) diving down the inside of his Mercedes; he recovers but I wonder if there’ll be a complaint
3mins left of this Practice session
Now it’s the Virgin of JD that dives inside MS
Chequered flag
Mercedes-powered cars take the top 4 spots: JB (1:26.456) followed by NR, LH and MS.

[Practice 3 is 20 hours away]
