Goodbye 2011, hello 2012

My aims for this year were “more of the same, improving my skills and helping others do the same … and trying to catch up (and stay on top of) all my email!” Did I do that? Well, somewhat – I’ve continued to work on my photography (attending a workshop, practicing with Toronto Photo Walks, and shooting on my own) and coaching Agile teams (multiple teams at a time), but I don’t feel I’ve done as much as I could/should have done.

Although we’re still making arrangements for the TOPW exhibition (it will be in March 2012), I did finally show some shots in public – it was nerve-racking at first but once people started to arrive and comment (positively) about my work, I felt a lot better. [I posted a 2011 photo review earlier.]

Oh, and as for wrangling my email, I think I have it under control as much as I can – I have a handful (less than a dozen) emails awaiting my attention at any time, which is a big improvement.

So what about 2012? (I keep wanting to write 2112!) In no particular order:

  • Now that I can travel again, I want to get back to England to see friends & family – Kerri will be working at the Olympic Games, so expect me over in August(ish).
  • As TOPW continues to grow I need to find a way to accommodate more people, which means organising more walks, so I want to get more people involved in running things. (I have a handful of reliable volunteers, for whom I am very grateful!)
  • I’ve been using Lightroom for a year now but I’m sure there’s a lot more that it can do, so I ought to read Scott Kelby’s book, “Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 Book for Digital Photographers“.
  • In the same vein, I’ve had a Speedlite [sic] 430EX II for ages and I really should learn how to use it properly.

OK, that’s more than enough! Hopefully I can achieve at least some of that list 🙂
