Toronto Wolfpack vs Hull Kingston Rovers

Having won the first of their Super 8s games (away, beating Halifax 0-14), Toronto now hosted Hull Kingston Rovers. Hull finished third in the Super 8s last year and were duly promoted to the Championship, so they’re keen to avoid relegation.

Unfortunately regular wingers Liam Kay and Mattie Russell are recovering after Halifax – it looks like Kay might be out for the season with an ankle injury, but Russell is just waiting for a seven-day concussion protocol to expire.

Hull led at the end of the first half (6-14) which had been pretty fast-paced and at times some robust tackling. I wasn’t very impressed by the half-time entertainment though; I’m not convinced having guys fight (albeit fake-fighting) on the pitch and in the stands is sending the right message.

The second half continued to be hard fought; Toronto managed to draw level and even led at one point but Hull clinched the victory 22-28.
