Paul Henman formula1 Italian Grand Prix – Practice

Italian Grand Prix – Practice

I was too busy to watch practice yesterday (shocking, I know!) but here are the highlights:

Practice 1:
The McLaren pair topped the times with Hamilton fastest (1:23.936) followed by Kovalainen, Sutil, Alonso, Heidfeld and Buemi.

Practice 2:
Sutil posted the fastest time (1:23.924) followed by Grosjean, Alonso, Kovalainen, Kubica and Glock.

Remember that Fisichella has moved to Ferrari for the rest of this season, and his seat at Force India has been taken by Vitantonio Liuzzi. GF was at the bottom of the timing charts in Practice 2 having been eighth fastest in Practice 1.

In other news, the FIA are investigating Renault following allegations by Nelson Piquet Sr and Nelson Piquet Jr that NP (Jr) was told to crash at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix, so that the safety car would be deployed, helping his teammate Fernando Alonso win. Personally I think it’s crazy to suggest any team would tell a driver to risk their life for a few points. OK, I hope it’s crazy. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that these allegations came to light after NP was replaced by Romain Grosjean. Sour grapes much?

  1. Saturday Practice:
Sutil was fastest again (1:23.336) followed by Button, Heidfeld, Barrichello, Hamilton, Kovalainen, Liuzzi and Alonso. Fisichella was slowest again and stuffed the Ferrari into the wall at Parabolica, damaging the suspension.
