Lots of news to catch up on – the diffuser decision and a few other tidbits. Both Brawn GP drivers did well in practice, as did Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg and Jarno Trulli. (Fastest in all 3 sessions was JB @ 1:35.679)
I decided to do just one quick post to cover all three practice sessions. Friday practice 1: Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren was fastest (1:37.334) with Brawn GP cars of Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello taking 2nd and 3rd place in the timings.
Lots of Formula One news today: After 43-years in Formula 1, Ron Dennis has formally handed over control of McLaren Racing to team principal Martin Whitmarsh. “I doubt if (FIA president) Max Mosley or (F1 supremo) Bernie Ecclestone will be displeased by my decision.” [BBC] [FIA] Ferrari are dumping KERS (the Kinetic Energy Recovery System) […]

The argument started before the first race of this season: is the new diffuser used by the Brawn, Toyota and Williams teams legal? Well, we finally have an answer: yes. The official statement from the FIA: The FIA International Court of Appeal has decided to deny the appeals submitted against decisions numbered 16 to 24 […]
It may be 5:00 in the morning, but I’m awake for the Malaysian grand Prix! (See my notes on practice & qualifying.) Grid: JB, JT, SV, TG, NR, MW, RK, KR, RB, FA, NH, KN, LH, HK, SBo, FM, NP, GF, AS, SBu
D’oh! I got confused and missed qualifying (5am this morning) because I thought it was Friday practice! So no live notes from me, but I’ll scan the F1 news sources and see what’s what.
