I was in Montreal over the weekend so I’m watching Qualifying on Monday evening, having carefully avoided any news about the race 🙂
Qualifying 1 (Q1)
VL first on track – the BBC commentators joke about the lesser-spotted Hispania car 🙂
Red flag (session suspended) so the marshalls can remove a piece of SB’s Toro Rosso (side pod?) which flew off!
The two Lotus cars wait at the pit exit … and the lights turn green
FM 1:36.744 on the softer (option) tyre compound
2mins left of Q1; bottom 7 are NR, MS, JT, TG, JD, NK, VL
RB scrapes through (P17); MW was way down in P15
Back of the grid will be: 18=PM, 19=HK, 20=JT, 21=TG, 22=JD, 23=VL, 24=NK
The good news for these guys is they all made the 107% time
Qualifying 2 (Q2)
Pit-car radio for MS telling him he’ll need to do another run
2mins left; bottom 7 are LH, JA, VP, KK, RB, AS, PD
NR relegates his team-mate into the relegation zone
Middle of the grid will be: P11=MS, 12=SB, 13=JA, 14=PD, 15=RB, 16=SP, 17=AS
Qualifying 3 (Q3)
LH is first to exit the pit lane
3mins left; order is LH, SV, MW, JB – the rest have yet to set a time
1min left; order unchanged
The provisional grid: SV, LH, MW, JB, FA, NH, FM, VP, NR, KK, MS, SB, JA, PD, RB, SP, AS, PM, HK, JT, TG, JD, VL, NK.
All 24 cars should be on the grid for the race.
