  1. The FIA reports: “Grosjean handed 20-second post-race penalty for Button clash” but the reality is that it made zero difference to the result. 🙁

Romain Grosjean has been handed a 20-second post-race time penalty by the Hungarian Grand Prix stewards for his clash with Jenson Button during Sunday’s race.

The Lotus driver collided with Button’s McLaren as he overtook him into the chicane on the 25th lap. The stewards subsequently declared that they would investigate the incident after the race and, having heard from both parties, decided the Frenchman was at fault.

However, even with the penalty applied, Grosjean retains his sixth place finishing position, having crossed the line 21.524 seconds ahead of seventh-placed Button.

Why didn’t they give him an actual penalty, i.e. one which made some difference to this race’s result or his start position for the next one?
