Grand Prix of Canada – Race

Sainz will get a 5 grid spot penalty after Toro Rosso changed the gearbox on his car as part of the rebuild following him hitting the Wall Of Champions in Q2 yesterday. [FIA]

That same FIA post says “Kevin Magnussen is expected to start the race from the pit lane after Renault had his car re-scrutineered this morning following the Dane’s FP3 crash which prevented him participating in qualifying.”

After Qualifying, the provisional grid was: HAM, ROS, VET, RIC, VES, RAI, BOT, MAS, HUL, ALO, PER, BUT, KVY*, GUT, GRO, SAI*, PAL, WEH, ERI*, NAS, HAR, MAG
*KVY and ERI will each have a 3 grid spot penalty applied
*SAI’s 5 spot penalty to be applied

30 minutes until the start of the race
Spots of rain on the camera lens; forecasts are for significant rain (not just drizzle) during the race
Tail wind down the main straight could make the Wall of Champions even more challenging
