- TOPW: St.Clair Loop
This was going to be Cathy-Ann’s first walk as leader but unfortunately she tested positive for COVID (yes, it’s still out there) so Jeff stepped in. Fortunately there wasn’t much to hand over – the plan was simply head up through Cedervale Park until about halfway through our time, then turn SW to hit the pub in time for lunch. I was planning to head home once we reached St Clair West but it was a warm day and I decided I’d earned a pint!
- 2024 Spirit of Toronto – 20th Anniversary
The reason I wasn’t planning on having lunch with the TOPW group was that Andy & I were off to Spirit of Toronto at Roy Thompson Hall. It was the event’s 20th Anniversary; even though we’d missed the first year we were in the select group that were treated to a dram of 1981 Port Ellen private collection bottled by Gordon & MacPhail. I also snapped a pic of Johanna and Charles (the organisers) with Don Livermore and some very limited Wisers in bottles engraved to mark the anniversary.
- TOPW: Mimico Photo Walk
Another photowalk led by Vicki, this one started “way out west” near Mimico station, at a popular bakery. I brought up the rear of the group, as usual; having spent a lot of time in St.James’ cemetery we only caught the end of a large police presence. We ran into a couple of people (with a LOT of badges) that were part of a youth group attached to the Brazilian church, and then finally met up with the rest of our group. The “decorated” Honda (Rav4?) pulled up while we were shooting some large poppies outside John English school. We spotted a cricket match (second one in as many walks) being played on the baseball diamond, before heading down to the Lake. We walked through Mimico Waterfront Park and Humber Bay Park, then ended at the Firkin on the Bay.
